CONDITION

When the button on the key transmitter is pushed to unlock or lock the vehicle, the light on the key transmitter illuminates but the vehicle doors do not lock or unlock.

CAUSE

RKE not synchronized.

CORRECTION

Please perform the attached procedure before replacing any parts.

RKE Re-Synchronization Procedure

  1. To synchronize the key transmitter push and hold the key and trunk buttons at the same time.

  3. The light on key transmitter will flash for approximately 10 seconds.
  4. When the light stops flashing let go of the buttons.
  5. The light will then be ON solid.
  6. Push the lock / unlock button once and let go.
  7. The light will flash 3 times and turn off.
  8. Repeat this procedure with the 2nd key.
  9. Now recheck the RKE operation. If the keyless entry works, the procedure is complete, do not continue to the next step. If the RKE still does not work continue to the next step.
  10. With the ignition off, connect the Tech II scan tool to the vehicle.
  11. Turn the ignition key on.
  12. From the Suzuki Start Screen, press Enter.
  13. Select F0: DIAGNOSTICS from the menu and press ENTER

  14. Select NEW, then press ENTER.

  15. Select SUZUKI, then press ENTER.

  16. Select NORTH AMERICA, then press ENTER.

  17. Select VERONA, then press ENTER.

  18. Select BODY, press ENTER.

  19. Select ISU (BCM), then press ENTER.

  20. Select MISC TEST, then press ENTER.

  21. Select KEYLESS TRANSMITTER REGISTRATION on the scan tool, then press ENTER.

  22. If you see the "No Response from Vehicle." screen, follow step 22. If you do not see this screen continue to step  23.

  23. Turn off the ignition. Turn off the Tech II and disconnect it. Remove the indicated power wire from the ISU for ten seconds then reconnect. The ISU is located to the left of the steering column next to the knee bolster panel. Start the procedure again from step  9.

  24. Press YES to continue.

  25. Turn the ignition OFF and press "Enter". At this point you may remove the key from the ignition.

  26. The "Keyless transmitter registration" will flash until one of the transmitter buttons is pushed.

  27. After one key transmitter button is pushed, you will have a choice to register another key.

  29. Continue following the Tech 2 prompts to complete the process.
  30. After completing scan tool transmitter registration: Exit the RKE function, power off the Tech 2 and unplug it from the DLC.
  31. Verify key transmitter operation. If the transmitters do not operate immediately when tested, allow the keys to rest-do not use them for 5-7 minutes.
  32. After 5-7 minutes verify repair by opening and locking doors with each key transmitter that was registered.
