NOTE: Updates will be completed by using a PC, the Suzuki Diagnostic System (SDS) Tool, applicable reprogramming software and database downloaded from Suzuki Pitstop.

CONDITION:

An Engine Control Module (ECM) program fault could cause the fuel to air ratio to become too lean in some circumstances, resulting in engine stalling.

CAUSE:

ECM software logic.

CORRECTION:

Reprogram Engine Control Module (ECM)

NOTE: When the KE Recall is completed, check the vehicle to see if the vehicle is included in the KC Recall and whether the KC Recall has already been completed. If the KC Recall has not been completed be sure to affix both the KE and KC completion stickers to the radiator support as shown below. For California vehicles be sure to provide the customer with a Proof of Correction certification as explained in the KC Emission Recall Bulletin No. SC-24.

Reprogramming Procedure:

  1. Open the hood and check for the KE sticker on the radiator core support. If present do not perform the repair, it has already been done. If not present, continue to the next step.
  2. Log onto the SCAT system and access the Suzuki Pitstop. Click on "OBD/OBDII DIAGNOSTICS"
  3. Download and review the Suzuki Pass-Thru Reprogramming Tool Operator's Manual. This must be read and understood COMPLETELY before attempting to reprogram the ECM.
  4. Following the procedure outlined in the Suzuki Pass-Thru Reprogramming Tool Operator's Manual, download and install the Pass-Thru Reprogramming Software "3_SOFTWARE.EXE" and the Suzuki Pass-Thru Reprogramming Data Base Calibration Files "4_DATABASE1.EXE" onto your PC.
  5. Following the procedures outlined in the Suzuki Pass-Thru Reprogramming Tool Operator's Manual hook up the SDS Interface Tool P/N 09910-06520 to the vehicle and run the ECM reprogramming software.
  6. When the ECM reprogramming is complete fill out the Reprogram Label P/N 99963-01501-224 and affix it to the inside left of the glove box door as pictured below. Also affix the "KE" sticker with the dealer number to the radiator core support as shown above. For vehicles that do not have the "KC" sticker please affix the "KC" sticker along with the "KE" sticker. This update includes the "KC" Campaign fixes.
