Headlamp Aiming: Preparations
- The vehicle shall be placed so all four tires are on a perfectly level surface which is level all the way to the wall or other flat surface.
- The vehicle shall be placed so it is perpendicular to the wall or other flat surface.
- Place the vehicle so that the headlamps are 25 ft (7.6 m) away from a light colored wall or other flat surface in a dark area.
- Open and support the hood.
- Find the low beam center mark on the lens of the lamps and measure the height (H) from ground to the low beam center mark. The low beam center mark is on the surface of the lens more outer than the high beam center mark.
- Mark the height of low beam center (HV point) on the wall or other flat surface.
- Mark a horizontal line and vertical line on the wall or other flat surface at the height of low beam center mark.
- Mark "A" shape line parallel with horizontal line & vertical line at 4 in. (100 mm) intervals on the wall or other flat surface.
NOTE:
Headlamp aiming should be done with the low beam lamp. The high beam lamps will be correctly aimed if the low beam lamps are aimed properly.
