Clutch Slipping

Checks Actions
Inspect for an oil-soaked clutch disc. Correct the leak at its source and install a new clutch disc.
Inspect for a worn facing or facing torn from the disc. Replace the worn disc with a new disc.
Inspect for a warped pressure plate or a warped flywheel. Replace the warped pressure plate or the warped flywheel.
Inspect for a weak diaphragm spring. Replace the pressure plate.
Inspect for a driven plate that is not seated. Start the engine 30-40 times. Do not overheat the engine.
Inspect for a driven plate that is overheated. Allow the driven plate to cool.
Incorrect hydraulic clutch pedal height, not allowing the clutch master cylinder to return Measure the hydraulic clutch release point. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Release Point Adjustment .
Hydraulic clutch master cylinder binding or seized Replace the clutch master cylinder. Refer to Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement .
Hydraulic clutch actuator cylinder binding or seized Replace the clutch actuator cylinder. Refer to Clutch Release Cylinder Assembly .
Kinked or damaged hydraulic clutch hydraulic hose
  1. Inspect for the correct routing of the clutch hydraulic hose.
  2. Route the hose properly.
  3. Inspect for loose or faulty engine mounts that may allow the hydraulic hose to be kinked.
  4. Repair or replace the clutch hydraulic hose if it is damaged.
Improper clutch cable adjustment Adjust clutch cable. Refer to Clutch Assembly Adjustment .
Rusted clutch cable Replace the clutch cable. Refer to Clutch Control Cable Replacement .
