Disabling System

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove key from ignition switch.
    1. Zone 1  - Open front hood, and locate both front end sensors (3 and 4). Remove both Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clips (1 and 6) from left and right front end sensor connectors (2 and 5) and disconnect both connectors from left and right front end sensors. See Fig 1 .
    2. Zones 2 Or 6  - Remove the left carpet retainer trim in order to lift carpet and push side trim away to expose roof rail air bag connector. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from the roof rail module Yellow connector. Disconnect the left roof rail module connector (2) from the roof rail module (1). Remove the center pillar trim panel. Remove the SIS CPA clip from the left SIS connector (2). Remove the SIS connector (2) from the SIS (3). See Fig 2 and Fig 3 .
    3. Zones 3 Or 5  - Remove the driver or passenger sound insulator from the instrument panel. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from the steering wheel module coil, or I/P module Yellow connector (1). Disconnect the steering wheel module coil or I/P module Yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness Yellow connector (3). See Fig 4 .
    4. Zones 7 Or 9  - Remove both Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clips from the driver or passenger side impact module and seat belt pretensioner Yellow connector (1) which is located under the front of driver or passenger seat. Disconnect the LF or RF side impact module and pretensioner Yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness Yellow connector. See Fig 5 .
    5. Zone 8  - To disable inflatable restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) located in SIR Zone 8. Disconnect SIR components in all other zones.
