Disabling System

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key from ignition switch. Remove the AIR BAG Fuse from the left side I/P wiring harness junction block (3) located on the far left side of the dash. See Fig 1 .
    1. Zone 3  - Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector (1) located above the wiring harness junction block. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil connector (1). See Fig 1 .
    2. Zone 5  - Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip (2) from the inflatable restraint connector (1) located above the wiring harness junction block. Disconnect the SIR connector (1). See Fig 1 .
    3. Zone 9  - To disable Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) located in SIR Zone 9, disconnect zones 3 & 5.
