Disabling Procedure

- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Locate the instrument panel (I/P) fuse box, then remove the fuse box cover.
- Remove the F8 fuse.
- Remove the lower center pillar. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar in Interior Trim.
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the pretensioner.
- Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner - RF connector from the vehicle harness connector.
- Remove the CPA from the side air bag sensor - RF connector.
- Disconnect the side air bag sensor - RF connector.
IMPORTANT:
With the F8 fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
