Disabling Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Suzuki Swift +, 2005 Pontiac Wave, and 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  4. Locate the instrument panel (I/P) fuse box then remove fuse box cover.
  5. IMPORTANT: With the F8 fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
  6. Locate and remove the F8 fuse.

  8. Remove the lower center pillar trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar in Interior Trim.
  9. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the seat belt pretensioner - LF connector.
  10. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner - LF connector from the vehicle harness connector.
  11. Remove the CPA from the side air bag sensor - LF connected.
  12. Disconnect the side air bag sensor - LF connector.
