Auxiliary Outlets Inoperative

Auxiliary Outlets Inoperative

Step Action Yes No
1 Did you review the cigar lighter/auxiliary outlets circuit description and perform the necessary inspections? Go to Step 2  Go to Symptoms - Power Outlets 
2 Verify that the auxiliary power is inoperative.
Does the auxiliary power operate normally?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3 
3 Connect a test lamp from the cigar lighter connector cavity 2 to ground.
Did the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 5  Go to Step 4 
4 Repair the open or short to ground or high resistance in power feed circuit between the F1 fuse and the cigar lighter. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Is the repair complete?
Go to Step 8  -
5 Connect the test lamp from the auxiliary power outlet connector cavity 1 to cavity 2.
Did the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 6  Go to Step 
6 Replace the auxiliary power outlet.
Is the repair complete?
Go to Step 8  -
7 Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit between the auxiliary power outlet and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing andWiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Is the repair complete?
Go to Step 8  -
8 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 3
