Assembly Procedure

  1. Install the spring to the J 45400  ( KM-329-A  ) or equivalent. Ensure the hooks are seated on the spring properly. See Special Tools .
  2. Compress the spring using the J 45400  ( KM-329-A  ) or equivalent. See Special Tools .

    IMPORTANT: Locate the spring to the original position on the spring seat.
  4. Align the match marks and install the spring to the strut.
  5. Install the following components to the strut:
    • The bumper stop
    • The strut cartridge upper cover
    • The spring upper seat
    • The strut mount bearing
    • The strut mount
  6. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  7. Use a wrench in order to hold the threaded piston rod while installing the piston rod nut with the J-44626  ( SA9603E  ) or equivalent. See Special Tools .

    Tighten:  Tighten the piston rod nut to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  8. Remove the strut assembly from the J 45400  ( KM-329-A  ) or equivalent. See Special Tools .
  9. Install the strut assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
