Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Ensure ignition is off and key is removed. Ensure all SIR components are properly mounted and connected. Ensure ignition has been off for a minimum of 30 seconds. Turn ignition on while observing AIR BAG warning light. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . If AIR BAG warning light does not flash 7 times, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off and remove key. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under driver-side instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, request SIR DTC display. If previously displayed DTCs are displayed again, repair displayed DTCs.
  3. Using scan tool, clear SIR DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 30 seconds. Observe AIR BAG warning light when turning ignition on. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, system is okay. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash 7 times, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off and remove key. Replace Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect all components. Go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
