Diagnostic Procedure
- Ensure ignition is off and key is removed. Ensure all SIR components are properly mounted and connected. Ensure ignition has been off for a minimum of 30 seconds. Turn ignition on while observing AIR BAG warning light. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . If AIR BAG warning light does not flash 7 times, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and remove key. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under driver-side instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, request SIR DTC display. If previously displayed DTCs are displayed again, repair displayed DTCs.
- Using scan tool, clear SIR DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 30 seconds. Observe AIR BAG warning light when turning ignition on. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, system is okay. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash 7 times, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and remove key. Replace Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect all components. Go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
