Water Pump Removal

  1. Drain the engine cooling system to a level below the thermostat housing. Refer to Draining and Refilling the Cooling System  .
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to SERPENTINE ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT REMOVAL .

  4. Loosen the hose clamp on the coolant hose at the thermostat housing and the coolant pump.
  5. Disconnect the coolant hose from the thermostat housing and the coolant pump.

  7. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.

  9. Remove the power steering pump upper bracket bolts.

  11. Remove the power steering pump lower bracket bolt.
  12. Remove the auto tensioner bolt.
  13. Remove the auto tensioner.

  15. Remove the coolant pump mounting bolts.
  16. Remove the coolant pump.
  17. Remove the coolant pump gasket.
  18. Inspect the water pump body for cracks and leaks.
  19. Clean the mating surfaces of the water pump and the engine block.
