Water Pump Removal

- Drain the engine cooling system to a level below the thermostat housing. Refer to Draining and Refilling the Cooling System .
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to SERPENTINE ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT REMOVAL .
- Loosen the hose clamp on the coolant hose at the thermostat housing and the coolant pump.
- Disconnect the coolant hose from the thermostat housing and the coolant pump.
- Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
- Remove the power steering pump upper bracket bolts.
- Remove the power steering pump lower bracket bolt.
- Remove the auto tensioner bolt.
- Remove the auto tensioner.
- Remove the coolant pump mounting bolts.
- Remove the coolant pump.
- Remove the coolant pump gasket.
- Inspect the water pump body for cracks and leaks.
- Clean the mating surfaces of the water pump and the engine block.
