Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Ensure jumper wire is firmly connected between test connector and ground. See Figure. If jumper wire is firmly connected, go to next step. If jumper wire is not firmly connected, connect properly and retest.
  2. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for proper connection of Purple wire between SDM connector terminal No. 8 and air bag monitor coupler. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If connections are not okay, repair as necessary. If connections are okay, measure resistance of Purple wire between SDM connector terminal No. 8 and air bag monitor connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is one ohm or less, substitute a known-good SDM and recheck. If resistance is greater than one ohm, repair open or high resistance in Purple wire. Reconnect all components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
