Generator Drive Belt
WARNING:
- Disconnect negative cable at battery before checking and adjusting belt tension.
- To help avoid danger of being burned, do not remove radiator cap while engine and radiator are still hot. Scalding fluid and steam can be blown out under pressure if cap is taken of too soon.
- Remove air cleaner outlet hose.
- Check tension indicator (10) of generator drive belt (1) by using mirror under enough lighting. 1
- Check that tensioner indicator (10) points within standard (11). See . If the tension indicator (10) is out of standard (11) passing limit (12), replace the generator drive belt.
If new generator drive belt has been installed, the tension indicator (10) should be with (a). See Fig 1. If it isn't, it means the drive belt is not installed properly . Reinstall it properly.
- Check that tensioner indicator (10) points within standard (11). See . If the tension indicator (10) is out of standard (11) passing limit (12), replace the generator drive belt.
- Hoist the vehicle.
- Remove right side engine under cover.
- Inspect the drive belt for cracks, cut, deformation, wear and cleanliness. If any defect exists, replace the belt.
