Deploying Passenger-side AIR Bag Module

  1. Clear space on ground 6 feet (1.8 m) in diameter (paved outdoor location is recommended). Ensure no loose or flammable objects are within deployment area. Place Deployment Fixture (09932-75040) in center of deployment area. Fill deployment fixture reservoir with sand or water. Using mounting attachment and hold down nuts and bolts, attach passenger-side air bag module to deployment fixture with trim cover facing upwards. Securely hand-tighten all fasteners.
  2. Using Deployment Harness (09932-75030), short deployment harness leads together by fully seating one banana plug into the other. Connect deployment harness connector to air bag module connector using Deployment Adapter (09932-78331). Stretch deployment harness to its full length of 33 feet (10 m).
  3. Separate banana plugs on deployment harness. Connect harness to a 12-volt battery to deploy passenger-side air bag module. DO NOT touch air bag module for 30 minutes due to heat generated during deployment. Wear gloves and safety glasses while handling a deployed air bag. Wash hands with soap and water afterward.
