EVAP Canister Vent Valve Inspection

CAUTION: When checking EVAP canister vent valve, do not blow compressed air into its inlet or outlet nozzle. Compressed air could damage EVAP canister vent valve and cause fuel vapor leaks.

Check EVAP canister vent valve for damage.
Check resistance of vent valve.
If resistance is as specified, proceed to next operation check. If not, replace.

EVAP canister vent valve resistance

Between two terminals: 25 - 30 ohm at 20°C, 68°F

Between terminal and valve body: 1 M ohm or higher

Blow breath into nozzle (1). Breath should come out of nozzle (2).
Connect 12 V - battery to vent valve terminals. In this state, blow breath into nozzle (1). Breath should not come out of nozzle (2).
If check result is not as described, replace vent valve.
