EVAP Canister Purge Valve Inspection
CAUTION:
When checking EVAP canister purge valve, do not blow compressed air into inlet or outlet nozzle. Compressed air could damage EVAP canister purge valve.
- With ignition switch OFF, disconnect coupler from canister purge valve.
- Check resistance of EVAP canister purge valve. If resistance is as specified, proceed to next operation check. If not, replace.
Resistance of EVAP canister purge valve
Between two terminals: 30 - 34 ° at 20 °C (68 °F)
Between terminal and body: 1 M ohm or higher
- Disconnect vacuum hoses.
- With coupler disconnected, apply vacuum to hose (2) using a special tool.
If vacuum can be applied, go to next step.
If not, replace EVAP canister purge valve.
- Connect 12 V-battery to EVAP canister purge valve terminals. In this state, apply vacuum to hose (2) using a special tool.
If vacuum can not be applied, EVAP canister purge valve is in good condition.
If not, replace EVAP canister purge valve.
WARNING:
Do not suck the air through valve. Fuel vapor inside valve is harmful.
