Removal (Aerio)

CAUTION: The Engine Control Module (ECM) consists of precision parts. Do not expose the ECM to excessive shock.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT article.
  3. Remove glove box. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION section of appropriate GAUGES & INSTRUMENT PANEL article under ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  4. Remove instrument panel passenger lower member (1). See Figure .
  5. Remove right side dash trim.
  6. Disconnect instrument panel harness connectors' clamp, engine harness connectors (1), and floor harness connector (2).
  7. Remove ground wire harness (3). See Figure .
  8. Disconnect connectors (1) from ECM while releasing connectors lock.
    NOTE: Do not damage ventilation duct.
  9. Remove ECM from body after removing its nuts (2). See Figure .
