Diagnostic Procedure
- Ensure ignition is off. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect right forward sensor connector. See FORWARD SENSORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance across forward sensor terminals. See FORWARD SENSOR under COMPONENT TESTING. If resistance is 738-905 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 738-905 ohms, replace forward sensor.
- Reconnect forward sensor connector. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminals No. 13 (Yellow/Green wire) and No. 14 (Yellow/Blue wire). See Figure. If resistance is infinite, repair open in Yellow/Green wire or Yellow/Blue wire between SDM and forward sensor. See WIRE REPAIR . If resistance is not infinite, go to next step.
- Disconnect forward sensor. Measure resistance between ground and SDM connector terminals No. 13 (Yellow/Green wire) and No. 14 (Yellow/Blue wire). If resistance is infinite, substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If resistance is not infinite, repair short to ground in Yellow/Green wire or Yellow/Blue wire. See WIRE REPAIR . Reconnect all components. Activate air bag system. Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTICS.
