Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander, 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, 2003 Mitsubishi Montero, 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, and 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: IAT sensor is a part of volume airflow sensor assembly.
  1. Disconnect Volume Airflow (VAF) sensor connector. Check resistance between VAF sensor connector terminals No. 5 and 6. Compare air temperature and IAT sensor resistance value with standard values. See IAT SENSOR RESISTANCE  table.
  2. Using hair dryer, heat IAT sensor and check resistance. Resistance should decrease as IAT temperature increases.
IAT SENSOR RESISTANCE

Temperature - °F (°C) Ohms
32 (0) 5300-6700
68 (20) 2300-3000
104 (40) 1000-1500
