Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Trooper. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation or a broken wire inside insulation. Inspect harness connectors for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal-to-wire connection, and damaged harness. If wiring harness appears okay. Disconnect PCM Red 80-pin harness connector E-22. PCM is located at right rear of engine compartment. Connect DVOM to ground and PCM harness connector E-22 terminal No. 5 (58X reference circuit) and wiggle harness and connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. A change in voltage will indicate area of problem. If DTC cannot be duplicated, check scan tool FAILURE RECORDS to determine mileage since last DTC was set.
