Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Suzuki Vitara and 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Before proceeding, read air bag service precautions section. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) is located under center console. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove front and rear center console box. Remove center garnish panel. Remove ashtray, clock, stereo, stereo pocket, and stereo hole cover. Disconnect Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) connector. Remove 3 bolts. Remove Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) from vehicle. See Fig 1.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten SDM bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure arrow on SDM is pointing toward front of vehicle. Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
