EVAP Canister Purge System Inspection

NOTE: Before inspection, shift transmission to "neutral" (M/T) or "P" (A/T) and pull parking brake all the way up.
  1. Disconnect purge hose from pipe in engine room. Place finger against the end of disconnected hose and check that vacuum is not felt there when engine is cool and running at idle speed.
  2. Connect purge hose to pipe and warm up engine to normal operating temperature. Disconnect purge hose from pipe and check that vacuum is felt when engine is running. If operation is not as described, check vacuum passage, hoses, EVAP canister purge valve, wire harness and ECM.
