Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. If engine system check has been performed, go to next step. If engine system check has not been performed, go to A4: ENGINE SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Check fuel filler cap gasket for uneven filler neck imprint, foreign material, pinched or damaged. Check for Suzuki genuine parts. Repair or replace as necessary. If fuel filler cap is okay, go to next step.
  3. Perform EVAP system leak test. See FUEL EVAPORATION under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If problem is found, go to next step. If no problem is found, EVAP system is in good condition. The fuel filler cap had been left loose previously. Retighten fuel filler cap securely.
  4. Perform smoke test. See FUEL EVAPORATION under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If a leak is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  3. If no leak is found, go to next step.
  5. Check EVAP-CPV for proper operation. See FUEL EVAPORATION under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If EVAP-CPV operation is as specified, go to next step. If EVAP-CPV operation is not as specified, replace EVAP-CPV.
  6. Check EVAP-CVV operation. See FUEL EVAPORATION under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If EVAP-CVV operation is as specified, go to next step. If EVAP-CVV operation is not as specified, replace EVAP-CVV.
  7. Check fuel tank pressure and temperature sensor operation. See FUEL EVAPORATION under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If fuel tank pressure and temperature sensor operation is not as specified, replace sensor. If fuel tank pressure and temperature sensor operation is as specified, go to next step.
  8. Check fuel level sensor operation. For testing procedure, go to DTC P0461 . If fuel level sensor operation is not as specified, repair or replace fuel level sensor as necessary. If fuel level sensor operation is as specified, problem is probably intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If intermittent problem is not found, substitute a known-good ECM. If DTC does not reset, testing is complete.
