Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes Using AIR Bag Monitor Connector (Onboard Diagnostics)

If a scan tool is not available, on-board diagnostics can be performed through AIR BAG warning light. Use a jumper wire to connect diagnostic switch to ground. See Figure. Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) displays DTC's by flashing AIR BAG warning light. Each DTC displayed consists of a number of flashes, which represent the first digit, a 1.2 seconds pause and then a number of flashes which represent the second digit of the DTC. Flash code DTC's will correspond to last two digits of DTC's. For example, DTC 1035 will be flashed as a 3, followed by a 5. A pause of 3.2 seconds will occur before next DTC is displayed. Each DTC is flashed once before moving to next one.

NOTE: If DTC B1051 or B1071 is stored in SDM, it is not possible to clear these codes.
