Diagnostic Procedure
- Before continuing diagnosis, ensure battery voltage is 11 volts or more. If voltage is less than 11 volts, repair battery and/or charging system as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position and observe AIR BAG warning light. If AIR BAG warning light turns on, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not turn on, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
- If AIR BAG warning light flashes continuously, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If not, go to next step.
- If AIR BAG warning light flashes 6 times then turns off, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 6 times and stays on, go to step 5.
- Check for air bag system DTC's. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS . If NO CODES or DTC 12 is retrieved, air bag system is operating normally at this time. If a DTC is retrieved, an intermittent condition exists. Check wiring harness and connectors for poor connection.
- Check for air bag system DTC's. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS . If NO CODES or DTC 12 is retrieved, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON STEADY under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If DTC's are retrieved, record DTC's and perform appropriate diagnostic procedure for each DTC.
