Diagnosis & Repair Procedure
- Remove ECM cover. Check for proper connection at ECM connector terminals E61-7, C51-3-20, C51-2-7 and C51-3-17. See Figure. If okay, turn ON ignition switch. Measure terminal voltage between ECM connector terminal E61-7 and vehicle body ground. Is terminal voltage 8-12 volts? If yes, replace ECM and recheck. If no, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Check METER fuse for open. If okay, remove instrument panel. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Connect harness connectors to instrument panel. Measure instrument panel connector terminal voltage between Black/White wire and vehicle body ground with ignition switch turned to ON position. Is terminal voltage 10-14 volts? If yes, go to next step. If no, Black/White wire is open circuit.
- Measure voltage between instrument panel connector G-10 terminal No. 6 (Purple/Yellow wire) and vehicle body ground with ignition switch turned to ON position. See Fig 1. Is terminal voltage 8-12 volts? If yes, Purple/Yellow wire is open circuit. If no, repair or replace instrument panel.
