Electric current flow time control

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Suzuki Vitara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

To stabilize the secondary voltage generated in the ignition coil to a proper level, ignition control system controls the time of primary current flow to the ignition coil.

NOTE: The ignition timing is controlled by ECM (PCM) as described above. Therefore, when checking and adjusting the ignition timing, the ignition timing must be fixed to the initial one by using SUZUKI scan tool.
