DTC Confirmation Test

Ensure intake air temperature is 18°F (-8°C) or more, engine coolant temperature is 18-230°F (-8-110°C), vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, engine coolant temperature is at 18-230°F (-8-110°C), fuel tank is 1/4 full or more, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and drive vehicle at 50-56 MPH for 5 minutes. (throttle valve opening should be kept constant). Stop vehicle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0420 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If no DTC is retrieved, using scan tool, check if catalyst monitoring test has completed. If catalyst monitoring test has completed, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If catalyst monitoring test has not completed, check environmental conditions and repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST  .
