DTC Confirmation Test

Ensure intake air temperature is 18°F (-8°C) or more, vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, engine coolant temperature is at 18-230°F (-8-110°C), fuel tank is at least 1/4 full, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC, located below left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, retrieve and record current or pending DTC and freeze frame data. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and FREEZE FRAME DATA  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Operate vehicle within recorded freeze frame data conditions. Stop vehicle and let it idle for 5 minutes. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
