DTC Confirmation Test

Ensure intake air temperature is 18°F (-8°C) or more, vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, engine coolant temperature is at 18-230°F (-8-110°C), fuel tank is 1/4-3/4 full, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at 35 MPH or more for 20 minutes, then keep vehicle speed at 30-35 MPH for 3 minutes (throttle valve opening should be kept constant). Stop vehicle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0451 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If no DTC is retrieved, using scan tool, check if EVAP system monitoring test has completed. If EVAP system monitoring test has completed, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If EVAP system monitoring test has not completed, check environmental conditions and repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST  .
