DTC Confirmation Test
Ensure intake air temperature is 6.8°F (-14°C) or more, vehicle is at an altitude of 6650 feet or below, and barometric pressure is 72 kPa or more. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at 40 MPH or more (engine speed at 2000-3000 RPM). Keep this vehicle speed for 10 minutes (throttle valve opening should be kept constant). Stop vehicle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0401 or P0402 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE . If no DTC is retrieved, using scan tool, check if EGR system monitoring test has completed. If EGR system monitoring test has completed, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE . If EGR system monitoring test has not completed, check environmental conditions and repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
