Front & Rear Disc Brake Calipers: Disassembly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Suzuki Verona and 2004 Suzuki Forenza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove caliper sliding pins and separate caliper from mounting frame. Remove brake pads and springs. Place a narrow wooden block between piston and caliper that will allow piston to clear its bore and not be damaged by caliper when removed.
  2. Using unlubricated, low pressure compressed air, apply air into caliper brake line fitting hole to force piston out of caliper. Remove piston dust seal, piston and wooden block. Remove inner seal with small flat-blade screwdriver if necessary without scratching bore. Remove bleeder screw dust cap and screw.
