Disabling & Activating Air Bag System

WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Read and follow all service precautions. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
  1. Place front wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove AIR BAG fuse from fuse block. See Figure.
  2. Disconnect driver-side air bag module connector. See Fig 1. Open glove box door and release side stops. Remove glove box. Disconnect passenger-side air bag module connector. See Fig 2.
  3. To activate air bag system, turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Reconnect driver-side and passenger-side air bag module connectors. Install glove box. Install AIR BAG fuse in fuse block. Connect negative battery cable. Go to SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
