AERIO & Grand VITARA

NOTE: Suzuki scan tool or Digital Ohm-Volt Meter (DVOM) is required to adjust TP sensor.
  1. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Ensure that fast idle cam and cam follower are not in contact with each other. See COLD (FAST) IDLE  under IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE. If using SUZUKI scan tool, go to next step. If using Digital Volt-Ohm meter, go to step  3 .
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Loosen TP sensor screws, located on throttle body, see Fig 1 . Connect Suzuki scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. See Fig 2 . On scan tool Data List, select TP sensor. Turn TP sensor clockwise or counterclockwise and tighten screws when specified voltage is obtained. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS  table. After TP sensor adjustment, disconnect battery negative cable. Leave battery cable disconnected for 5 minutes or more and reconnect negative battery cable.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Loosen TP sensor screws, located on throttle body, see Fig 1 . Using Digital Ohm-Volt meter (DVOM), backprobe and measure voltage at Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector C46-25 (Aerio) and C51-3-12 (Grand Vitara), located at right side dash panel, under glove compartment, see Fig 2 .
