Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Ensure Tech 2 Scan Tool (09932-76010) is functioning properly. Turn ignition off. Check scan tool connection to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool is functioning and connected correctly, go to next step. If scan tool is not functioning or connected properly, connect condition.
  2. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with other control modules. If scan tool communicates with other control modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with other control modules, repair open, short to ground or short to power in common section of serial data circuit (Blue wire).
  3. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect SDM connector. Check Blue wire for proper connections at SDM connector terminal No. 28 and DLC connector terminal No 7. If connections are not okay, repair as necessary. If connections are okay, go to next step.
  4. Using Digital Multimeter (NNNNN-00002), measure resistance of Blue wire between SDM connector terminal No. 28 and DLC connector terminal No. 7. If resistance is one ohm or less, substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If resistance is more than one ohm, repair open or high resistance in Blue wire. Reconnect all components. Clear DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
