Expansion Valve: Service and Repair

Expansion Valve

Removal
1. Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
2. Recover refrigerant from A/C system by referring to "Recovery" in "Operation Procedure for Refrigerant Charging:".

NOTE: The amount of removed compressor oil must be measured for replenishing compressor oil.

3. Remove glove box.




4. Remove instrument panel passenger lower member (1).




5. Disconnect suction hose (1) and condenser outlet hose (2) using special tools.

Special tool
(A) : 09991-15410 (For condenser outlet hose)
(B) : 09991-15420 (For suction hose)

6. Unglue packing from expansion valve.
7. Remove expansion valve pipe (1) from expansion valve (2).




8. Remove expansion valve (2) from evaporator.

Installation
Reverse removal procedure to install expansion valve noting the following instructions.
- Replenish specified amount of compressor oil to compressor suction side by referring to "Replenishing Compressor Oil" in "Operation Procedure for Refrigerant Charging:".
- Evacuate and charge refrigerant by referring to "Operation Procedure for Refrigerant Charging:".
