Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Suzuki XL-7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Disconnecting negative battery cable, Engine Control Module (ECM) connectors, ECM ground wire, or main fuse will clear DTCs. DTCs can also be cleared using a Tech 2 or other OBD-II compatible scan tool connected to 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. DTCs will also clear when fault that originally set that DTC is not detected during 40 engine warm-up cycles. A warm-up cycle is when vehicle coolant temperature rises by 72°F (22°C) or reaches 158°F (70°C) after engine has first started. DLC is located below right side of steering wheel, accessible from driver's side. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions when clearing DTCs.
