Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect left and right seat belt pretensioner harness connectors located behind respective kick panels. Disconnect left forward sensor. See FORWARD SENSORS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance across forward sensor terminals. If resistance is 738-905 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 738-905 ohms, replace forward sensor.
  2. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminals No. 18 (Orange/Blue wire) and No. 19 (Orange/Green wire). See Figure. If resistance is infinite (open circuit), go to next step. If resistance is not infinite (open circuit), repair short between Orange/Blue wire or Orange/Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Measure voltage between ground and SDM connector terminals No. 18 (Orange/Blue wire) and No. 19 (Orange/Green wire). If voltage is less than one volt, substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If voltage is more than one volt, repair short to power in Orange/Blue wire or Orange/Green wire. Reconnect all components. Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
