Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Ensure jumper wire is firmly connected to air bag monitor connector terminal No. 2 and ground. See Figure. If jumper wire is firmly connected, go to next step. If jumper wire is not firmly connected to air bag monitor connector terminal No. 2 and ground, reconnect properly and retest.
  2. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for proper connection between SDM connector terminal No. 15 (Purple wire) and SDM. Repair as necessary. If connection is okay, measure resistance or Purple wire between SDM connector terminal No. 15 and air bag monitor connector.
  3. If resistance is infinite (open circuit), repair open in Purple wire. If resistance is zero (short circuit), substitute a known-good SDM and retest. Reconnect all components. Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
