Removal & Installation: Compressor: Removal

  1. Run engine at idle with A/C on for 10 minutes.
  2. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
  3. Recover refrigerant from refrigeration system using recovery and recycling equipment.
  4. Remove power steering pump. It is not necessary to drain power steering fluid.
  5. Disconnect magnet clutch connector.
  6. Disconnect suction hose and discharge hose from compressor. See Fig 1.
    NOTE: Cap open fitting immediately to keep moisture out of system.
  7. Remove compressor from its mount. See Fig 2.
    NOTE: If compressor assembly is replaced. Drain oil from compressor, and measure its amount. See Fig 3.
