Remote Audio Control Switch Inspection

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Suzuki XL-7 and 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove driver air bag (inflator) module. Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE (Grand Vitara) or DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE (XL-7).
  2. Disconnect remote audio control switch connector from contact coil.
  3. Check switch (1) for resistance between "a" and "c" terminals under each condition below.

    If check result is not satisfactory, replace remote audio control switch.

    "MUTE", "+" and "-" switch resistance 

    All switches released (OFF): 90 - 110 k/ohms

    "MUTE" switch pushing on (ON): 300 - 360 ohms

    "+" switch pushing on (ON): 900 - 1100 ohms

    "-" switch pushing on (ON): 2900 - 3500 ohms

  4. Check switch (1) for resistance between "b" and "c" terminals under each condition below.

    If check result is not satisfactory, replace remote audio control switch.

    "MODE", "<" and ">" switch resistance 

    All switches released (OFF): 90 - 110 k/ohms

    "MODE" switch pushing on (ON): 300 - 360 ohms

    "<" switch pushing on (ON): 900 - 1100 ohms

    ">" switch pushing on (ON): 2900 - 3500 ohms
