Disabling & Activating Air Bag System

Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Read and follow all service precautions. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Place front wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove ignition key. Remove AIR BAG fuse from AIR BAG fuse box. See Fig 1.
- Disengage Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from driver-side air bag connector and disconnect connector.
- Pull top of glove box outward while depressing stops. Allow glove box to fall toward passenger seat. Disengage CPA clip and disconnect passenger-side air bag module connector. See Fig 2.
- To activate air bag system, turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Reconnect driver-side and passenger-side air bag module connectors. Install AIR BAG fuse in fuse box. Go to SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
