Strut Assembly: Reassembly

  1. Install lower spring pad to strut assembly. See Figure .
  2. Install coil spring.
  3. Install bump rubber.
  4. Install upper spring pad.
  5. Install upper spring seat.
  6. Install bearing.
  7. Install strut insulator assembly.
  8. CAUTION: DO NOT use an impact wrench to tighten the bolt of Spring Compressor (MB991237), otherwise the special tool will break.
    NOTE: Ensure that the bearing is seated correctly.
  9. Install the Spring Compressor (MB991237) and Arm Set (MB991238) to the strut assembly same. See Figure . While the coil spring is being compressed by Spring Compressor (MB991237) and Arm Set (MB991238), temporarily tighten the self-locking nut.
  10. NOTE: Using a rod, as shown, facilitates the alignment. See Fig 1 .
  11. Align the hole in the strut assembly lower spring seat with the hole in the upper spring seat. See Fig 1 . Align both ends of the coil spring with the grooves in the spring seat, and then loosen Spring Compressor (MB991237) and Arm Set (MB991238).
  12. Using Wrench (MB991681) and Socket (MB991682), tighten the self locking nut to specification. See Figure . See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
