Axle Hub Assembly: Reassembly

- Fill the wheel bearing with multi-purpose grease. Apply a thin coating of multi-purpose grease to the knuckle and bearing contact surfaces. Using Rear Suspension Bushing Arbor (MB990883) and Rear Suspension Bushing Base (MB990890), press in the bearing. See Fig 1 .
- Install snap ring. See Figure .
- Install dust cover.
- Install hub.
- Tighten Front Hub Remover and Installer (MB991000 or MB990998) and Front Hub Remover and Installer (MB991017) to 159-202 ft. lbs. (216-274 N.m), and then press in the hub into the knuckle. See Fig 2 . Rotate the hub in order to seat the bearing.
- Check hub starting torque. See WHEEL BEARING under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
- Check wheel bearing play. See WHEEL BEARING under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
