Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Perform ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC II SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing OBD-II system check, go to next step.
  2. Perform tooth error correction learn procedure. See TOOTH ERROR CORRECTION LEARN PROCEDURE  under POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. If scan tool indicates that CKP sensor variation has been learned, go to step  5 . If scan tool does not indicate as specified, go to next step.
  3. Attempt CKP system variation learning procedures up to 5 times. If anytime during 5 attempts crankshaft variation is learned, go to step  5 . If after 5 attempts crankshaft variation has not been learned, go to next step.
  4. Check for problem with CKP sensor to crankshaft relationship. For aid in diagnosing crankshaft sensor to crankshaft problem, use information in TEST DESCRIPTION  . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool, select DTC INFO, then CLEAR INFO. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature of 167-203°F (75-95°C). Select DTC INFO, then SPECIFIC DTC INFO, enter DTC P1336. Operate vehicle within CODE ENABLE CRITERIA  . If scan tool indicates diagnostic DTC P1136 RAN AND PASSED this ignition, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate diagnostic DTC P1136 RAN AND PASSED this ignition, repeat test beginning in step  2 .
  6. Using scan tool, check that no other DTCs are set. If any undiagnosed DTC(s) are displayed, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If no other DTCs are displayed, testing is complete.
