Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Trooper. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The brake switch has 3 functions:

PCM receives switch position signal from the brake switch, along with vehicle speed from VSS, and sets brake operating conditions in response to signals. When brake switch is On, brake system is in normal operation (cruise control cancelled).

When DTC sets, PCM will not illuminate MIL. PCM will store conditions present when DTC was set as FAILURE RECORDS data only.

DTC can be cleared with scan tool, or by disconnecting battery voltage feed to PCM.
