Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Trooper. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Perform ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC II SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing OBD-II system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTCs P0462 or P0463 are stored, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If DTCs P0462 or P0463 are not stored, go to next step.
  3. If DTC P0464 is stored, perform appropriate test. Go to DTC P0464: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR NOISY SIGNAL . If DTC is not stored, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Replace fuel level sensor. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. After repair is complete, see VERIFYING VEHICLE REPAIR  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
