Visual Inspection

Visually inspect following component condition and operation:
- Electrical wiring, looking for chafed, stretched, cut or pinched wires. Ensure electrical connectors fit tightly and are not corroded. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Ensure vacuum hoses are properly routed and are not pinched or cut. See appropriate diagram in VACUUM DIAGRAMS article to verify routing and connections (if necessary).
- Air filter element clogging.
- Automatic transmission fluid condition, level and leakage.
- Auxiliary engine components for looseness and installation.
- Battery volage level, corrosion and terminal tightness.
- Drive belt tension and condition.
- Engine oil condition, level and leakage.
- Engine coolant condition, level and leakage.
- Engine oil pressure warning light operation.
- Engine temperature gauge operation.
- Exhaust system for leaks.
- Fuel level and leakage.
- Fuel level gauge operation.
- Fuses blown.
- Inspect air induction system for vacuum leaks.
- MIL operation.
- Tachometer operation (if equipped).
- Throttle cable play and chaffing.
