Removal (Montero)

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain fuel tank into suitable container. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Support transmission and rear of engine until there is no weight on crossmember bracket insulator. Unbolt transmission crossmember. See Fig 1. Remove transmission crossmember.
  3. Remove fuel tank under cover. See Fig 3. Disconnect fuel filler hose and fuel return hose. Disconnect fuel vapor hose. Press high-pressure fuel hose retainer to disengage connector and remove high pressure fuel hose. See Fig 2. Remove fuel tank band front and fuel tank band rear. Lower fuel tank halfway to disconnect fuel tank breather hose and fuel tank harness connector. Disconnect fuel tank filler tube breather hose and fuel tank harness connector.
  4. Disconnect fuel tank filler tube purge hose and fuel tank filler tube vapor hose "A". Disconnect fuel tank filler tube vapor hose. Remove fuel tank assembly.
